Psychology
Our work is organized in four levels that the children ascend according to their learning, and we have the addition of the following services: Speech Therapy and Physical Education (Psychomotricity).
A Psycho-pedagogical Institution for children with learning difficulties.
The indifference, the mistreatment that many children suffer, traumatic family breakdown, malnutrition, work outside the home, lack of support and commitment of parents in the educational process and household chores, are reasons that generate apathy, fatigue and emotional blockage that hinders their learning, remaining below the educational level that corresponds to their age.
The infrastructure of our octagonal or hexagonal classrooms, with capacity for a maximum of ten students, are an example of this. On the other hand, being surrounded by trees, domestic animals and exotic birds invites to experiential learning, socialization of knowledge, systematization of knowledge and development of social skills, especially the care of creation.
One of the fundamental rights that many children and adolescents still need to be guaranteed is quality education. The education system is in crisis. UNICEF describes it as “Alarming”. According to the National Agreement, 6% of the GDP should be invested, currently 4% is invested, which is very little, so we have schools with poor infrastructure, classrooms of forty students or more, teachers with little training, coupled with poor management of behavioral problems, and the nutritional factor that does not allow children to develop their intellectual potential.
There is a close relationship between poverty, violence and school failure. The children we receive have serious learning difficulties, which is why they constantly repeat grades.
We begin our work with children recognizing that they have abilities, especially a high practical intelligence that allows them to survive in a hostile environment. We value their sense of solidarity, strengthen their self-esteem, and intervene with appropriate and innovative methodologies, with optimal motivation so that they are eager to learn and regain their confidence. They are tenacious in achieving their goals.
Strengthen the work of the multidisciplinary team, providing psycho-pedagogical and comprehensive education with trained teachers, psychologists, speech therapists, social workers, and physical education specialists, to meet the needs of children and contribute to the comprehensive development of their abilities.
We have workshops of arts and crafts, and mini-chef, where children can enjoy and put into practice their manual skills, as well as prepare for life.
For us, it is important to maintain the focus on identifying and responding to the children’s individual needs, rather than insisting that they adapt to a method determined by the institution. In addition, we believe it is important to develop in them an open disposition to learn. This is a valuable experience that we offer to society as a model for others to replicate.
